Expansion Alert turns one public register into a usable view of where Texas businesses are opening and expanding.

Method

• We collect the Comptroller's permitted-location register every day and keep each pull, so history accumulates rather than being overwritten.
• Locations are identified by the Comptroller's own taxpayer and location numbers, so grouping an operator's sites is exact, not guesswork.
• Industry comes from the NAICS code in the register. We do not infer it.
• We bound dates at both ends, because publishers occasionally emit typos centuries out.

Limits, stated plainly

• No phone, email or personal contact data exists in this register.
• The register covers locations active in roughly the last four years, so “first location on record” means first in that window.
• The permit date is not an opening date.
• Organisation type is published as a short code; we do not translate it into a legal form.
